Why software is harder today despite seemingly better infrastructure

Intro

I'm Parris, I worked at NetApp, Eventbrite, Brigade as a Software Engineer and Director of Engineering. These days I'm the co-founder and CTO of StoryForj (where you're reading this content now).

I've been trying to find the words for this article for quite some time. I've been interested in trying to understand why with all our new technology it feels like software development is moving slower than ever.

In my mind the various issues stem from these sources:

1. The growing compartmentalization between roles - causing communications breakdowns.

2. Products have rites of passage and people forget that when funding seems limitless.
